Rising Sons – Debut at The Saxon Pub
September 5, 2023 @ 10:00 pm - 11:30 pm
Necessary on any bands’ resume is a performance at The Saxon Pub. This legendary, icon of Austin, Texas is a special place, not only for the band but for the fans. The close proximity to the stage give what has been described as a concert in one’s home. Supplemented by the expertise of sound/lighting engineer Richard Vannoy, every band has the opportunity to shine. Rising Sons got that opportunity on September 5, 2023, and they shined. Lead guitarist vocalist – Jake Sherard, Drummer – Billy Slater, Bass – Matthew Temple, and keyboard – David Hunter Thacker are the components of Rising Sons. The new formation of this band hit the road in early June 2023 and have not slowed down. They are literally taking Austin, correction Texas by storm. This night was an experience. Seven Pillars Photography, LLC was there and not only Captured the Experience but Captured the History of Austin Live Music.
Tuesday, September 5, 2023 was a night I will remember. This young band blew the doors open. From the first song to the last they were relentless in their music. I asked Billy Slater, afterwards, “Did someone feed you guys raw meat before the show?” His response, “We tamed it down for The Saxon Pub.” This night I was constantly looking at Vincent Beall saying, “My God, they are good.” I always knew they were good. This is not my first time to see them as a group or as members of other groups but this night,….WOW!!! I noticed a gentleman sitting at a table with a notepad taking notes. Who was he?????
Rising Sons has risen and they are shining brightly. I am excited about their future. Rising Sons per the artists words:
Matthew Temple:
An artist is an artist…
A band is a band….
Both are a coveted spot to be in.
I find that I’m comfortable being an artist ‘in’ a band. Its the synergy and energy of the players on stage that sometimes propel your playing further than you expect!
You can be an artist with a band or be a band of artists
I prefer being in a band of artists
