Celebrating a Birthday Austin Style

“A birth-date is a reminder to celebrate the life as well as to update the life.”
― Amit Kalantri, Wealth of Words

The celebration of a birthday is the gathering of friends to a location and the giving of gifts to a singular person. Musicians of Austin do it with a twist. For they are not the ones’ receiving, they are the ones’ giving.

W.C. Clark, “The Godfather of Austin’s Blues”, celebrates his 83rd birthday. How? He plays music to his fans at The Saxon Pub. Tommy Elskes, a few weeks later, does the same. Two weeks after that, A.J. Vallejo brings fellow musicians to sing with him. I attended all three and left each event elevated and blessed to live in such an incredible city.

This is typical of the Austin Musician, they give. They give by sharing their passion of music. The enjoyment, by the audience, is the gift given to them. Such is another ingredient in the recipe that makes Austin unique.
