The Experience of a Performance 1wm (1 of 1)

The Experience – Keepers of the Rock.

I had been told they are different. I had been told they are energetic. So it was time I found out for myself. March 11, 2023, I was in photography heaven. The combination of exceptional lighting and a band that performed, I took 6100+ photographs. I was afraid I would miss “that second.” They entertained, they performed, but mostly, they gave an experience. The hour drive to see them was worth it. Keepers is not the first group for me to have such an experience but they are in the category of “few.”

We live in a time of many distractions and “minimum imagination.” Few movies are original, they are either another in a series or a remake of a remake. Music too, seems to be in a lull. Is it because there are no powerful world forces, as in the 60’s and 70’s, helping to shape the music. The 80’s music is more popular today than ever. Why? Has society lost the ability to be original? The answer is “No!” Original music is alive but, I have been told, it is far more difficult to break through than before.

Regardless of whether the musician(s) plays original or cover there is a need to “stand-out.” In my opinion, being an “Experience” is the only way. There has to be a reason for a person to leave the comfort of their home; deal with traffic; find parking; and pay to be at a venue. Music can be listened to anywhere but it can only be experienced at a live performance. This is what “Keepers of the Rock” did. They gave a memorable experience. Such was my experience that I am chomping at the bits for their next performance.
