Patrice Pike Band – Good Medicine

June 6, 2021, The Saxon Pub had only been reopened for a few days. I was there to capture Patrice Pike. This would be my first time to capture her. My God, what a performance. She has and continues to be a musical experience. Her uplifting songs, her energetic, happy personality radiates when she is on stage. Those who arrive weary leave recharged. Her music gets you high.

Samuel Grey Horse would say, “She is Good Medicine.” He would be correct. She has been my musical physician this year. I speak from experience. Her music heals. The energy that is created is incredible. There is not a song where no one is dancing. It is a joy to watch. It is a joy to watch Patrice dance.

But the simple fact is that Patrice is not alone. She is supported with incredible talent. Jon Bush (Percussions), Seth Orell (Drums), Laran Snyder (Harmony Vocals), Bobby Perkins (Bass), Hunter Hendrickson (Guitar), and Coleman Berg (Keyboards). The Patrice Pike Band would not be the same without them.

The Patrice Pike Band is an experience you can see and hear every Thursday at 8pm at The Saxon Pub. You owe yourself some healing from time to time.

Patrice has been a favorite of mine since I first saw her in Little Sister circa 1992 at The Black Cat. I have seen her in Dallas, Boulder, and Denver. and of course at The Saxon Pub. Her words are poignant when talking about social ills. Conversely, her words inspire when singing about human compassion and love.

In many ways, she helped cultivate my singing voice and for that I am grateful.
